Day 2: Hot, sweaty, sweary, grubby but here! Updated!

A l-o-n-g flight from Narita to Heathrow and then almost as long again in the Border Control queue at Heathrow.  We did wonder if we'd ever see the light of day.  Then a long trek with our bags to the train station and 23 stops later, we arrived at our digs: Endsleigh Court in Russell Square.  We have a spacious flat which is rooly excellent. But by jingo, bed is looking good!  We are so-o-o tired.  Will try and post a pic in a sec but it may not work.  If not, better luck tomorrow, when I also promise to be more witty and engagzzzzzzzzzz....

While Hortense is preparing a gourmet feast - omelette a la Bloomsbury (just like Virginia Woolf would have had her staff do it, Geoff (speaking in the royal third person) is enjoying a cheeky little white something-or-other, purchased in our first outing - to the local Waitrose supermarket.  Our checkout chick was a thoroughly charming native of Benin, or perhaps Burkina Faso, who very patiently explained that we wouldn't be able to get cash with our travelcard, although we did successfully pay for the groceries with it.  Hopefully the ATM will work better tomorrrow, and with any luck we'll get a local SIM card that will work.

Meanwhile, back at the Endsleigh Court ,,, here is the sumptuous bedroom:

... and the chef extraordinaire in the gourmet kitchen:

... and the five star bathroom:

Note how Anne defies gravity in the kitchen,  That's all for now.  Till tomoorrow!

  1. From the Oz point of view, the kitchen and the bathroom should be up side down!

  2. Good to hear you made it safe and sound etc. Nice part of town Russell Park, lots of regency architecture and parks. I confess I'm stalking you both on GoogleEarth. Endsleigh Court looks very comfortable and so conveniently close to Euston station I notice.
Btw I've started the collection of SMHs so dont worry about missing out on your xwords.

  3. Good morning! So nice that friends and rellos are reading our blogette. Despite our very overheated digs (including towel rails!) we mostly slept well. A few police sirens (from Sun Hill according to Geoffy) and the regular chiming of the bells of St Clemens also conspired to keep us conscious but having been wide awake for over 24 hours, but nothing would stop us reaching the land of nod. It's now morning and we are prancing around the flat in our bras and girdles - I swear it's close to 30 degrees inside, even if zero outside!

  4. FYI - Stirling Ackroyd has a Real Estate office in Bloomsbury... I asked a policeman where Sun 'ill was. I think he thunk I was mad! Have fun...
