Day 3: Beefeating in Bloomsbury

Today we had a wander round Camden Markets - they are huge.  I assume Camden must have been Amy Winehouse's stamping ground, as there was lots of Amy music and memorabilia for sale, plus this Banksy-style graffito on a wall:

This arvo we went to the British museum which, as we all know, is simply wonderful. And it's free, although they do urge you to maker a 5 pound donation if you can.  Much better value than some of the other London attractions - we certainly won't be paying 18.5 pounds for a ride on the glorified ferris wheel known as the London Eye and it's not just because we're cheapskates! Well, perhaps it is - but I do like value for money and that is a tad too pricey for a person of modest means like myself. We're going back to the British museum (walking distance from our bolthole) on Tuesday for an exhibition of Ice Age art and culture which we had to book for. That is ten pounds, but money well-spent and it makes us seem refeened and thirsty for knowledge, which the London ferris wheel would not. ;-) .
I took an excellent pic of Geoffy from the bottom of the stairs outside the BM and he was appalled at his seemingly large tummy which was distorted because of the upwards angle. I said I could caption it with a reference to his hearty lunch at Camden Markets, but he refused to let me publish it on our blog.  He actually has a lovely boyish figure as all know.  Still, what a squib. So here's one of him propped against a giant urinal instead.

I do love the church bells we can hear from our flat.  They chime every half hour.  I described them in  an earlier post as "the bells of St Clemons" (as in oranges and lemons etc) but they are actually the bells of St Pancreas, or something like that.  It's one of those offal-sounding anglo-saxon saint names,  but the chiming is just lovely.  I must wander over there and have an explore.

Tomorrow we're going to walk along the south bank with a friend of Geoff's who's here briefly.

Get Well Soon and Obituary:
I am very sorry about Her Majesty's diarrohea and hope she recovers soon.  But frankly I am sick of hearing about it on BBC 1.  Also sorry to hear about Peter Harvey. Thank you for this news from home Cousin Bob. It didn't make the BBC news surprisingly. Did hear about Australian troops killing small childen in Afghanistan however. Yet another reason to pull the troops out of that god-forsaken place.

More tomorrow!  XXXXXX
